The Community Boating Center is
offering lessons for adults on both weekday evenings or on weekends. Taught
safely in Sonar keelboats, CBC is proud to offer classes that will follow
the US Sailing Keelboat Training Curriculum. Adults of all ages can learn
the basics of sailing right here in New Bedford.
 The Beginner Keelboat class is 8
hours of hands on instruction. Emphasizing safety and fundamentals, a
US SAILING certified CBC instructor takes you through four
two-hour classes of essential nautical know how.
Master the basis: equipment and safety, parts of the boat,
sailing terminology, fundamentals of navigation and more.
Try your hand at the tiller and sheets. You'll be
hooked in no time!
The Intermediate Keelboat Class is 12
hours of hands on instruction. Upon completing the course participants
should have the necessary skills to pass a "checkout" sail, enabling them to
rent CBC boats.
Classes are offered in two week
sessions with classes on Monday and Wednesday. Students must bring their own
lifejackets. The classes will be using two Sonar keelboats with three or
four students and one instructor on each boat.
Class size is limited to insure high quality instruction. Register
early to reserve your spot, classes are filling up fast! To register
