The
Community Boating Center offers an afternoon sailing program open to all high
school students regardless of the school they attend. Students come schools
such as: New Bedford High, Fairhaven High, ORR, Stang, Voc Tech and Westport
High. Participants do not need any prior sailing experience. The program
teaches a broad scope from beginner basics to advanced racing strategies,
tactics and boat handling. High school sailing programs fosters teamwork,
decision making, self-confidence, preparation, and other life values by
encouraging the students to strive to be their best on and off the water. The
program is free for all students.
CBC also
supports any school who wishes to make sailing a varsity
sport! By becoming a varsity sport, students would travel
to compete against other area schools. Students would also
receive a varsity letter. |
