Be an Ocean Hero!

One of our main goals at CBC is to raise awareness of marine debris.  Last year, some of our friends at Leadership SouthCoast helped us by creating some fun materials to help us spread the word, raise awareness and educate our community.

Below you’ll find a couple of projects and a video.  We hope that you have some fun and do some learning.  Remember that we can all be an Ocean Hero!  #beoceanfriendly

A Fill-in-the-Blank Story

Have you ever done a Mad Lib?  It’s a story where you write down a list of words and those words are put into a story.  The results are usually pretty funny!  You can use the link below to complete “An Ocean Hero Adventure”, a fill-in-the-blank story about marine debris. Once you submit the form, the story will be emailed to you.

Rhyme Time

Human-created waste and litter in our oceans and waterways—known as marine debris—is a serious issue that negatively affects our environment and economy, sea animals, our quality of life and the beauty of our natural resources and beaches.  By reducing single-use plastics and properly disposing of trash and recyclables, we can each make a difference!

Create your own rhyme about marine debris based on this photo.  Here are a few ideas to get you started.

•An ocean full of plastic is not so fantastic.

•Make a stand, lend a hand.

•Free our sea of marine debris.

This video was filmed at CBC last summer and features an original song written just for us!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to it.
